Hockey is a growing sport at Sacred Heart College and is a much-enjoyed extra-curricular activity for those who take part. In 2014 we had four teams entered into competitions, the 1st XI, 2nd XI, 3rd XI and Under 15A and B, as well as Year 7 and 8 Wednesday afternoon teams.

Hockey has grown from strength to strength in the last few years: the 1st XI played in the C grade a few years ago and then made the top Intercity round in Auckland in 2012 followed by the new Supercity competition in 2013, 2014 and 2015._ The 1st XI played in this highly competitive grade and lifted their game each week against some of the top teams in the country. In 2015 Sacred Heart College competed at the top tier National Tournament for the first time.

The 2nd XI play on Friday afternoons and have had some good results in 2015. This team is made up of Senior students from Years 11 to 13 and is comprised of both experienced players and some new to the sport.

The 3rd XI also enjoyed success, despite being comprised of mainly players new to the sport.

Our under 15A and B teams compete on Mondays and these teams are made up of students from Years 8 to 10 with boys new to Hockey as well as more experienced players. The A team placed 3rd in Auckland in their grade in 2015.

We are very fortunate to have a dedicated group of parents and teachers who have assisted with coaching, managing and planning for the future and our thanks go to them. It is expected that this sport will continue to grow at the College.
