Old Boys Association
The Sacred Heart College Old Boys Association (SHCOBA) has been in existence for over 100 years. It was inaugurated on 26 November 1909 as the Old Boys Union. Its name was changed to its present ‘Association’ version in 1928 and Br Clement was the first elected President.
The Old Boys Association was established to:
- keep Old Boys in contact with one another
- keep Old Boys informed of the progress and developments at the College
- keep Old Boys up to date with the achievements and successes of fellow Old Boys in the Church, society, civic affairs, academic, sporting and cultural worlds
- support the College.
The Old Boys Association supports the College magazine Confortare, donates to the Library and supports annual student scholarships. The Old Boys Association encourages Old Boys and friends of the College to list their business on the Business Network listing.
For information regarding Old Boys and College history, please contact Kerry Plamus email@example.com or phone 529 3660 ext 849.
The Association holds an annual golf tournament ‘the Brother Maurice Cup’ in April which is keenly contested and well supported amongst Old Boys and present pupils alike. The PTA Fair is held in March each year the Old Boys manage the ‘nearest the pin’ competition.
An Annual Reunion Dinner is held each year in Auckland and many Old Boys and families attend the Annual Old Boys’ Memorial Mass on a Sunday near Anzac Day. Dates for all events are advertised in Confortare. Branch reunions are held in various districts throughout the year; see the Reunion page.
Twice a year, news from the College and Old Boys is published in the College magazine Confortare and posted or emailed to all Old Boys. Archives of past issues can be found on the Confortare Archives page. Please email Kerry Plamus at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have news of Old Boys.
If you do not currently receive either of these communications and wish to do so, please call Ms Lyn Luxton on 09 529 3743 or email email@example.com to have your details updated on our database.
