At Sacred Heart College, students from Years 8 to 13 are required to sit internal school exams mid-year and again at the end of the year. Year 7 students sit internal exams at the end of the year. These examinations are an excellent tool for assessing each student’s attainment level, in order to see how they are achieving and what they need to revise to improve performance in each subject. The grades are a very good guide to what each senior student needs to focus on prior to NCEA examinations in November.
All students are expected to attend each examination and to stay for the full time allocated. Marks gained in these examinations can be used for derived grades. A derived grade will be used if students are unable to attend the NCEA examinations at the end of the year due to illness or bereavement.
