Senior Touch wrap-up, Term 1 2015

Sacred Heart fielded two sides in the Eastern Zone competition every Tuesday at Macleans College. The Eastern Zone competition consisted of 15 champ and non- champ Boys teams, with both the A and B teams competing in the championship grade.

B Team

The B team captained by Aisea Fainga’anuku (coached by Antonio Whitfield), had a competitive season losing some key and very tight games. The boys showed class against, all A grade teams and demonstrated the strength in depth of SHC Touch.

A Team

The A team beat every team comfortably, to make the Eastern Zone final.

As the A team made the Eastern Zone final, they automatically qualified for the regional finals on Saturday 20 March in Massey, Auckland. This pitched the top 8 teams, from the 60 or so teams, across all zones, in the region.

The boys finished 3rd, their highest finish in many years and qualified directly for the National finals in December.

The boys gave 100% every game, but were slow out of the blocks in the first game, losing to St Pauls College, the eventual winners. They rallied to beat Kings, Ariston and finished with a strong win, over rivals, St Kents (7-1) to finish 3rd.

Congratulations to all the boys who played Touch this year.

Nationals and Junior Touch in Term 4.
