AKSS Cross-Country Champs, 2015

Congratulations to our Distance runners for a big day in Pukekohe yesterday. Our best medal count at the Auckland Champs Cross-Country with two GOLDS, one SILVER and one BRONZE!!

Conquering extremely harsh, wet and heavy conditions at the Pukekohe Showgrounds, our boys battled the elements and the very best runners from the Auckland Region. We were so pleased with the way that the boys stepped up and they all seemed to enjoy the tough conditions and challenges of the course.

The stars of the day were our Intermediate Boys teams.  These boys totally dominated the rest of the field and managed to finish with the outstanding results of:
3-Man Team: GOLD  and
6-Man Team: GOLD

Not only did our top-6 runners win by over 100pts (ie 100  placings) from the 2nd placed team, but our ‘B-team’, or next best 3 and 6-man teams, also just missed out on podium finishes – both ending up in 4th place overall!

Individual honours went once again to James Uhlenberg who won the SILVER in a tight battle for the Intermediate Boys race.

Our top-6  Medal winning team were: James Uhlenberg, James Matthews, Jono Ansley, Liam Miller, Sean Paget and Jacob Holmes  (the first 3 named also constitute the 3-man team)

Our Junior Boys team  also did very well: 6-man team: BRONZE. This was an exceptionally good performance for these boys  considering three of our top-6 ranked runners were unable to race due to injury or illness, and it should be noted that they are ALL only Year 9s.

Medal winners: James T Evans, Jacob de Graaf, Liam Regan, Chris Tremlett, Andrew Matthews and Milligan Hudson
