Marist Cricket Carnival, December 2015


This year the Sacred Heart participated in the 42nd Australasian Marist Cricket Carnival in Sydney. Hosted by St Joseph’s Hunters Hill, the games were played at St Josephs and other neighbouring grounds. 

Day 1 –  we played Newman College, Perth. Newman College batted first making 137 all out. In reply Sacred Heart were 6/141. Player of the Match was Wilson Catton, Player of the Day was Jack Coman.

Day 2 – we played Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Alice Springs. Sacred Heart batted first and reached 8/201. In reply OLSH were bowled our for 86. Player of the Match was Jack Coman.

Day 3 – we played Lavalla Catholic College, Traralgon. Sacred batted first making 5/204 in their 50 overs. In reply Lavalla were 8/115 at the end of 50 overs. Player of the Match was Adam Mackinnon.

Day 4 – we played Catholic College, Sale in the semi final. Sale batted first and were 131 all out. In reply Sacred Heart made 6/132 in 43 overs. Player of the Match was Ben Westerlund.

Day 5
– in the 43rd Australasian Marist Cricket Carnival final we played hosts St Joseph’s, Hunters Hill. St Jospeh’s won the toss and elected to bat first making 8/139. In reply Sacred Heart were 5/72 after 34 overs but then finished all out on 99. Player of the Match was Matt Gibson.

Carnival Awards
A wonderful Presentation Dinner was held on the final night in the Farrell Auditorium with 200 players, guests, officials and supporters present. 

Champagnat Award for Sacred Heart College was awarded to – Wilson Catton
Tony Lantry Trophy for Bowler of the Carnival: – Jordi Nicolai (OLSH Alice Springs)
Brother Jordan Redden Trophy for Batsman of the Carnival: – Adam Jones (Sacred Heart College Auckland)
David Parsons Trophy for Fieldsman of the Carnival: – Edric Liang (Newman College Perth) – Lachlan Day (St Joseph’s College, Hunters Hill)
Brother Evan O’Halloran Trophy for Player of the Carnival: – Jack Coman (Sacred Heart College Auckland)
Stan McCabe/Ray Lindwall Trophy for Champion School: – St Joseph’s College Hunters Hill
