National Club Rowing Champs, 2016

Sacred Heart sent three crews to compete at the National Club Rowing Championships last week. This is an adult event, so essentially our boys were rowing against grown men.

Our senior eight rowed as a Men’s Club Eight and were very unlucky to be pipped at the line for a BRONZE medal losing by 0.04 seconds.

Our novice boys raced as a Men’s Novice Coxed Quad and came home second winning the SILVER medal, but the same crew in a Men’s Novice Coxed Four won GOLD. Then adding another four rowers to the stern of their boat they made up a Men’s Novice Eight and won GOLD again to come away with two New Zealand titles!!

These rowers join the rest of the squad in two weeks for the final Karapiro regatta before setting their sights on North Island titles in mid March and the Maadi cup in mid April.
