Debating update, 12 May 2016

The first weeks of Term 2 have seen a mixture of results for SHC Debating:

The Junior teams had an exceptional week winning three from three. They had an advised topic debate about pit bull terriers. They were well prepared and each team had a convincing win. In the Senior grades we had some defaults and a convincing victory by SHC# 3. Theirs was also an advised topic debate, this time focusing on the ethics of drug use by sports people. In the Advanced Debating division, SHC#1 deferred their debate. SHC#2 unfortunately lost. This grade debates at Sacred Heart from 6.30pm and spectators are welcome. The Next debate will be held on May 17.

The Premier Advanced teams had two excellent results, both winning a complex motion that centered around Bruce Springsteen boycotting North Carolina because of their stance on the use of public toilets by their LBGTQ community. These two teams are performing exceptionally well in the first year of the Premier grade. SHC#1 has 3 wins from 4 and SHC#2, 2 wins from 3.
