Principal’s Resignation

Dear Sacred Heart Community

It is with regret that as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, I announce the resignation of Mr Jim Dale as Principal of Sacred Heart College effective December 2018.

During his 12 year tenure at the College Mr Dale has provided a dynamic, professional and nurturing style of leadership for our young men, the teaching staff and also the wider school community. His tireless and generous support of students, Marist Brothers, Old Boys, parents and friends of Sacred Heart College has been unwavering and inspirational.

Mr Dale made the following comment when announcing his resignation this morning to staff and students “After these memorable 12 years at the helm of our beloved College, it is now time to hand over this special responsibility and privilege to another. I am confident that the time is right for the College and the time is right for me professionally and personally.”

The College has gone from strength to strength since Mr Dale has been at the helm – whether it be academic results, sporting achievement or the growing reputation of the school’s arts and culture programmes, all have flourished under Jim’s leadership.  As such Sacred Heart is widely recognised as one of the leading boys’ schools in New Zealand.

Mr Dale has been a member of key organisations throughout New Zealand during his tenure at Sacred Heart College:

  • Association of Boys’ Schools of New Zealand (ABSNZ)
  • Auckland Catholic Secondary Schools Principals’ Association (ACSSPA)
  • Auckland Secondary Schools Principals’ Association Inc (ASSPA)
  • Secondary Schools Principals Association of New Zealand (SPANZ)

As a community, we are indebted to Mr Dale for his leadership and dedication. In the coming weeks we will celebrate his success as Principal of Sacred Heart.

The Board of Trustees will now commence a robust search for an experienced leader with the skill, passion and faith to lead our College.

Kind regards

Kelsen Butler
Chairman, Board of Trustees
