The traditional House Haka whakataetae was held on the top field on a windy but warm, sunny day in the last week of March. The three judges officiating were Br Stephen Filipo, Mr Tom Ruki and Mr Matthew Grevatt with Br John, the MC and Mr O’Donnell, the scrutineer.
First House off the block was Pompallier with Adrian Olie in its lead. They were followed by Basil (Luc Ravel), Coolahan (Te Whaiti Te Reke), Stephen (Harry Bruce), Marcellin, (Blake Makiri) and lastly, Lenihan led by head boy Millar Rewi.
Judges commented very positively on the various formations, movements, uniforms, volume and the overall high standard of performances and enthusiasm of the Houses.
For the first time in the history of the competition and since the trophy was first presented in the centennial year, 2003, Basil was placed first with 224 points out of a possible 240, with Lenihan (216), Coolahan (212), Marcellin (206), Stephen (198) and Pompallier (194) behind. Thanks to all involved.
