Pompallier Shield – A Great Victory For Sacred Heart

Last night the annual Pompallier Shield competition took place at McAuley High School and Sacred Heart was the overall winner of the event!

The Sacred Heart team consisted of David Fa’alau-Solia (Senior Oratory), Jack Takurua-Newland (Junior Prepared Speech) Aidan de Souza (Senior Scripture), Matthew Curtis (Junior Scripture) and Te Whaiti Te Reke (Maori Scripture/Ko Nga Tuhituhinga Tapu).

Matthew came first in the Junior Oratory, Jack was placed second in the Prepared Speech followed by David third in the Senior Oratory. This is a team event and the points are cumulative across the five competitors. The team worked well as a unit, supporting each other over the period of preparation leading up to the event. Without that cohesiveness, it falls apart. Congratulations boys and many thanks to teachers Mrs Margaret Ward, Mrs Anne Renwick, Mr Ben Christie and Mr Matt Grevatt for their work in preparing the boys for this event.
