The sun was out in full force on Wednesday for the running of our Annual Athletics Championships, this year with a modified daytime programme that saw events running from 9.30 in the morning until 3.00pm.
House colours were displayed proudly by the boys in a wide range of run, jump and throw events and whilst our School’s best athletes contested the championship events, others were hugely supportive of the non-championship house events… The 100m, 300m, shot put and discus being extremely popular competitions for all age groups.
The heat turned up as the day went on, and it is perhaps a good time to remind your boys that they should all be keeping their hydration levels up on these hot summer days. On the track the heat was also on, and the House Relays at the end of the day were a huge highlight, with Charlie Hankins storming home for the narrowest of Coolohan victories in the Senior 4x100m. A hugely successful day and one that saw many boys pushing themselves to attain personal excellence.
Congratulations to our individual champions – Jackson Jarvie (Senior), Brooklyn Baker (Intermediate), Luca Kneebone (Junior), Max Morgan (Year 8) and Keanu Simpson (Year 7), and to Coolahan the overall House winner.
