Matariki Dinner – Manawa Ora
The annual Matariki Dinner was held last Saturday evening with 400 guests gathering to celebrate what has been a testing year for us all. With a three course meal, a hum of chatter of guests catching up and the performances by the three kapa haka groups of SHC ”Ka mau te wehi – fantastic”. This year’s theme was “Manawa Ora -Breath of life” with the focus being on coping with times of uncertainty, like those that 2020 has brought us. The students acknowledged those who had passed away recently and throughout the school year. The highlight of the evening was the fluorescent Patupaiarehe on stilts as it battles with the Corona Virus of today. The evening also included a very moving piano recital of Beethoven by Sam Wisniewski, accompanied by a 138 strong Maurakau weaponry display. A night enjoyed by all.
Thank you to all our guests, whanau and the Sacred Heart College community who attended. The hum of chatter, laughter, and tears made the evening a success. Having the opportunity to come together and share a night under the stars of Matariki was fantastic. No reira nga mihi nui kia koutou katoa
