Welcome to Sacred Heart College Cycling.
Road Cycling at the College has been growing for some years and there has been a recent introduction of Track cycling.
Road Cycling at Sacred Heart started with Team Time Trials and National School Road events. The Time Trials are run by Collage Sport, with the timed racing taking place on closed road conditions around Pukekohe Race Track. This venue makes for very safe and competitive racing. Nearly all the top schools in Auckland are represented and each event has approximately 400/500 competitors. There are great facilities for parents to watch the action from the viewing platforms above the garages.
The newly introduced Track cycling squad has been well received and continues to grow. We have an enthusiastic group of boys who compete on a regular basis throughout the year. Unlike Road Racing, our boys can compete in track all year. These boys have trained and competed at both Manukau and Cambridge Avantidrome. The team has grown over the last two and a half years to a stage where we have had boys in both the Senior and Junior levels compete in Invercargill at the National Track Cycling Championships. This has involved some great success, and a wonderful learning opportunity. It is a joy to watch the improvements that Track cycling brings to the group as a whole.
