International Students who are boarding at Sacred Heart College Hostel, regardless of their age at the time of enrolment, must have a local guardian (not a legal term, more like a support person) in Auckland to provide extra support for the student. We ask parents of International Students to make private arrangements with a friend or relative who will act as guardian, or to contract one using the list of recommended agencies/personnel who provides paid services. International Department may be able to organise a Professional Guardian subject to the availability of these Guardians.
A completed guardianship agreement is a pre-requisite for enrolment into the Hostel and needs to be submitted before admission.
The Hostel expects guardians to take an active interest in the life of the student, to assist with transport to and from the airport and to medical appointments, and arrangements for the student's emergency accommodation such as during illness and disciplinary action. The International Department can assist with the exeat accommodation during the term holidays, public holidays and the College’s mid-term breaks.
As part of the application process for Boarding at Sacred Heart College, local guardians are required to complete the agreement.
