Music

Music is the researched and knownĀ 'brain developmentā€™ subject. It is made up of language, science, maths and practical fun performance; these all serve to increase the number of left and right brain cell connections. StudentsĀ will be more intelligent and better coordinated should they study Music. A research team exploring the link between music and intelligence reports that "music training is far superior to computer instruction in dramatically enhancing children's abstract reasonsing skills necessary for learning maths and science". Dr Frances Rauscher and Dr Gordon Shaw, Neurological Research, University of California at Irvine.

The Sacred Heart College Music Department offers a wide variety of musical opportunity for all students with Music classes from Year 7 through to senior NCEA level, itinerant instrument and vocal lessons.Ā Also there isĀ a huge number of performing opportunities available in competitions and events in and outsideĀ the school.
