House Haka and Cross-Country

House Haka Whakataetae

The Whakataetae was held on Monday. Just days before, Auckland experienced such torrential rain that a number of the Polyfest events being held at that time were postponed. We were very grateful that the weather had settled down for this traditional event. Brother John was the Master of ceremonies, with Mr Ben Bacon and Old Boys Mr Karl Pokino and Mr Daniel O’Donnell, the judges and Mr O'Donnell the scrutineer.

Random order saw Kūrahana up first, followed by Tipene, Renihana, Pomaparie, Pātea and lastly Mahirino. While the standard for the day was very high, one house stood out clearly above the rest, gaining 100% from one of the judges and unanimously took out first place.

Congratulations to:

  • Lenihan (Renihana) - 1st place
  • Coolahan (Kūrahana) - 2nd place
  • Marcellin (Mahirino) - 3rd place
  • Pompallier (Pomaparie) and Basil (Pātea) - 4th equal place
  • Stephen (Tipene) - 5th place

Well done Renihana for having broken the ten year drought since you last winning this event.

Sacred Heart House Cross Country Championships 2025

The fittest and fastest fellas in the school found ‘fast-forward’ as they fought for individual and House fame on Wednesday in the Cross-Country Championships. The event was held for all Year 7 to 10s, as well as a ‘Championship only’ Senior event for Years 11-13. Due to the recent field upgrades, we had a new course this year which was a good test over varied terrain. Conditions were near perfect with firm ground conditions on a warm day with light breezes. Congratulations to Marcellin (Mahirino) House for taking the win on the day. To view more photos please visit our gallery.

Special congratulations also go to the following boys, for their outstanding individual results, placing Top-6 in their respective events: Cross Country Results Top 6
