Academic Achievements 2000
In the 2020 NCEA results, 19 Sacred Heart students gained 35 Scholarships across 14 subjects. This is a 35% increase on our 2019 result and a 133% increase on our 2018 result. Attaining a scholarship places those students in the top 3% of the country for that subject, an outstanding achievement.
Fergus Harland, dux of 2020, gained four scholarships in Accounting, Health and Physical Education, History, and Religious Studies. He will now study Law and Arts at Auckland University.
Micah Steven gained four scholarships in Geography, History, Religious Studies, and Statistics. This year he will attend Auckland University to study Law and Science.
Bob Liu gained four scholarships in Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, and Physics. He is now preparing to study Biomedical Science at an international university.
Sam Wisniewski gained three scholarships in Calculus, Physics, and Statistics. This year he will attend Auckland University to study Biomedical Science.
Year 12 student William Waters gained three scholarships in Calculus, Chemistry, and Physics. He remains at Sacred Heart College to complete Year 13.
All of these boys will be awarded $2,000 each year for three years for tertiary study, as they gained three or more scholarships in one year. This year 205 students in the country gained this award making this an outstanding achievement by these students. As a college we also recognise students who gain three or more scholarships in a year by inscribing their name on our Scholars’ honours board in the auditorium.
Julio Romero gained two scholarships in Physics and Statistics. He will now attend Auckland University to study Engineering and Commerce.
Stefan Caird gained two scholarships in Technology and Religious Education. This year he will attend Canterbury University to study Engineering.
Year 12 student Denzel Deveraj gained two scholarships in Media Studies and Religious Education. He remains at Sacred Heart College to complete Year 13.
Matthew Sutton gained one scholarship in Religious Education. He will now attend AUT to study Creative Technologies.
Giovanni Rogers gained one scholarship in Chemistry. This year he will study Engineering at Auckland University.
Eugene Odiaz gained one scholarship in Religious Education. He will now study Biomedical Science at Auckland University.
Liam Mobbs gained one scholarship in Technology. This year he will study Engineering and Commerce at Auckland University.
John Misa gained one scholarship in Economics. He will now study Engineering at Auckland University.
Brody Green gained one scholarship in Religious Education. This year he will attend Canterbury University to study Engineering.
George Fan gained one scholarship in Calculus. This year he will study Science majoring in applied physics at Auckland University.
Leo Farrell (Year 12) gained one scholarship in History. He remains at Sacred Heart College to complete Year 13.
Caleb Hooper (Year 12) gained one scholarship in English. He remains at Sacred Heart College to complete Year 13.
Jack T Ryan (Year 12) gained one scholarship in Physical Education. He remains at Sacred Heart College to complete Year 13.
Brandon Toh (Year 11) gained one scholarship in Religious Education. He remains at Sacred Heart College to complete Year 12.
2020 Multi-Course Endorsements
Students in Year 10 who gain Excellence in 3 subjects at Level 1, in Year 11 who gain 3 points and in Years 12-13 who gain 4 points are awarded academic badges in our scholars’ assemblies. Points are awarded as follows:
- 1 point for an Excellence course endorsement at the student's year level
- 1 point for a Merit endorsement and 2 points for an Excellence endorsement at the year level above.
