Sacred Heart Old Boys Association

Our community beyond the College

Inaugurated on 26 November 1909, the Sacred Heart Old Boys Association (SHCOBA) was established to keep boys in contact with each other beyond their graduation from the College. The Association exists to foster comradeship among Old Boys, to strengthen the bond of union between the College and its Old Boys and to promote the interests of the Old Boys and the Association. View the Old Boys Association Constitution.

Every boy who attends Sacred Heart becomes part of the SHC family and shares a lifelong bond. SHCOBA serves as a platform to keep past students informed of developments at the College, as well as achievements of fellow Old Boys in the Church, society, civic, academic, sporting and cultural worlds.

The Old Boys Association play an integral role in supporting the College each year – by donating to the library, College magazine Confortare and annual student scholarships.

News from the College and Old Boys is published in Confortare twice a year and emailed or posted to all Old Boys.  It is important to us that we have our Old Boys' correct contact information. Please update your contact details below:

Annual Events

The Old Boys are involved with a range of College events throughout the school year. A highly supported event is the annual golf tournament for the Brother Maurice Cup, which is contested by many Old Boys and the wider school community. Old Boys also manage the ‘dunk tank’ each year at the PTA fair.

The Annual National Reunion dinner is held every year and offers a wonderful opportunity for reunion. Dates for all events can be found in the school magazine, Confortare, and in our Calendar.

Reunions

Since the inception of SHOBCA, reunions across the country have been a way for Old Boys to reconnect. In 1941, 50 Old Boys who were members of the Armed Forces gathered in Cairo during World War II.

Reunions are held in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Tauranga, Dargaville, Taranaki, Paeroa, Dunedin, Whangarei, Kaitaia, Papakura, Whakatane, Rotorua and Hong Kong. When circumstances permit,  Biennial reunions are held in Pukekohe, Papakura, Hong Kong, Brisbane, Sydney and London. For details on all upcoming reunions, view our Events and Reunions page.

Membership

We always encourage SHC past students to get involved with the SHCOBA (SHC Old Boys Association). We have recently changed the SHCOBA joining process to automatically include any previous SHC students, regardless of their time at the College (one term or seven years), and there is no joining fee. Please simply update your contact details, specifically email (as this is our primary form of communication), by emailing us.
