SHC Old Boy Sportsman of the Year Cup

Sacred Heart College has a proud history dating back to 1903. Sport has always be an integral part of College life as young men take to the sporting fields wearing the school’s colours with pride. Many Sacred Heart College students have gone on to achieve sporting excellence after leaving the College. Their achievements are enjoyed by the College and the Old Boys community.

The SHC Old Boy Sportsman of the Year Cup, donated by Old Boy Kelsen Butler and family, is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate an outstanding sporting achievement by a Sacred Heart College Old Boy. It will provide a chance to formally honour an Old Boy and also inspire current students.

The criteria for this award is as follows:

  • An Old Boy of the college
  • Currently competing on the international or national stage in the sport in which he is nominated
  • The award is open to an athlete, referee, coach or manager
  • The timeframe is between 1st August and 31st July of each year

A panel of five  judges will decide the recipient consisting of:

  • SHC Old Boys Association President
  • An SHC Marist Brother
  • Two members of the SHC Old Boys Association committee
  • Kelsen Butler or a family nominated person
