Become a Homestay Host

If you are interested in hosting a Sacred Heart College International Student we would love to hear from you.

Students benefit tremendously from living in a safe, comfortable and caring home environment, improving their spoken English while participating in daily home life, and experiencing the kiwi lifestyle.

Hosting is a great opportunity for those in your family to learn about a new culture while sharing your own, and to make friendships that can last a lifetime.

A Host Family needs to be able to provide:

  • A warm, light bedroom with a study desk, chair and lamp
  • Wi-Fi Internet
  • All meals and snacks including school lunches
  • Close proximity to the College or to the College bus routes, or public transport

There are short-term and long-term options for hosting, as in addition to students who attend as day boys we also have boarders who need placements during the school holidays while the College Hostel is closed.

Remuneration is fortnightly in advance, and fees are reviewed annually for adjustment.

All hosts are additionally required to complete a Police Vetting Form, which is mandatory in New Zealand.
